Get to know Hospitalist Dr. Rafat S. Choudhry, who serves patients in Pleasantville, New Jersey.

Dr. Choudhry is a well-versed hospitalist who specializes in geriatric medicine and the treatment of anxiety, depression, and other common ailments. She sees patients at Regional Internal Medicine Associates, PC in Pleasantville, New Jersey.

In affiliation with the AtlantiCare network, she offers her services at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Atlantic City Campus & AtlantiCare Wound Healing Center. She also holds privileges at Shore Medical Center and Acuity Specialty Hospital of New Jersey.

Earning her medical degree from Quaid-e-Azam Medical College in Pakistan in 1986, Dr. Choudhry went on to further her training. She completed an internship in obstetrics and gynecology at Bahawal Victoria Hospital in 1988, followed by a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Services Hospital in Pakistan in 1992. After relocating to the United States, she performed an additional residency in internal medicine at Monmouth Medical Center in New Jersey in 1995.

Three years later, in 1998, she attained board certification in internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Hospital medicine is a medical specialty that exists in some countries as a branch of internal or family medicine, dealing with the care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. Physicians whose primary professional focus is caring for hospitalized patients only while they are in the hospital are called hospitalists.

On a more personal note, Dr. Choudhry speaks English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu.
