Get to know Dermatologist Dr. Oliver M. Reed, who serves patients in Brooksville, Florida.

Dr. Reed has led an impressive career as a dermatologist in his four decades working in the medical industry. Prior to joining Suncoast Skin Solutions, he founded Hernando Skin & Cancer Center, the 1st dermatologic practice solely in Hernando County. 

A past president of the Florida Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, he is currently on the American Association of Dermatology Advisory Board, a delegate to the Florida Medical Association, recently commissioned a Kentucky Colonel, a volunteer at the USF Department of Dermatology, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.

A 1981 graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine, Dr. Reed served his internship in internal medicine and his residency in dermatology at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center. A Veteran, he served in the US Army as a dermatologist. 

Providing personalized care for conditions of the skin, he is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.

Licensed to practice medicine in Florida, Dr. Reed is affiliated with Oak Hill Hospital and Tampa General Hospital.

Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin, the largest organ of the body; a specialty with both medical and surgical aspects. A dermatologist is a specialist doctor who manages skin diseases and deals with both internal and external causes and some cosmetic concerns involving the skin. Dermatological duties include taking consultations, providing screening tests, and undertaking non-invasive surgical procedures.

Featured in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. Reed is the recipient of On-Time Doctor Award (2014, 2015, 2016) and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2016).
