Dr. Terhune is a board-certified dermatologist who is a part of the team at Richmond Dermatology & Laser Specialists in Richmond, Virginia. She prides herself on the relationships she develops with patients and their families, as well as her attentiveness to the needs of individual patients.

While Dr. Terhune evaluates all diseases of the skin, hair, and nails in adults and children, her particular interests are in the prevention, detection, and treatment of skin cancers and melanoma, acne, psoriasis, eczema, diseases of the nails and hair, and cosmetic dermatology. Within cosmetic dermatology, she offers Botox, fillers, and sclerotherapy. 

Born and raised in New Hampshire, Dr. Terhune graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College with a degree in Biochemistry. She then went on to attend Harvard Medical School, graduating with her medical degree in 1989. She completed her internship and residency in dermatology at the University of Michigan. During her final year of residency, she served as Chief Resident. 

A Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the doctor is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology, which is one of the 24 medical specialty boards that make up the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Prior to relocating to Richmond, Dr. Terhune practiced in Lexington, Kentucky for 14 years. She was an Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky until 2000, after which she joined the Lexington Clinic. In 2010, she moved with her family to Richmond and joined Richmond Dermatology & Laser Specialists, where she has continued her full-time practice of general dermatology.

A dermatologist is a specialist doctor who manages skin diseases and deals with both internal and external causes and some cosmetic concerns involving the skin. In her personal life, Dr. Terhune lives in Midlothian, Virginia with her husband, two teenage children, and their chameleon. She enjoys many activities in her spare time, including jewelry-making, gardening, cooking, and volunteering at the Richmond Animal League with her daughter.
