In 1995, Dr. Caro earned his medical degree at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. He went on to complete a residency at the University of Puerto Rico Family Medicine program. He completed a fellowship in geriatric medicine at the same venue. 

To stay up to date in his field, Dr. Caro is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). The AAFP is the national association of family doctors.
