A board-certified colorectal surgeon, Dr. Snyder is a Professor of Surgery and Program Director of the Colon and Rectal Surgery Residency training program at UTHealth McGovern Medical School in Houston, Texas. 

His clinical interests include anal fistula, colon and rectal cancer, complex fistula repairs, fecal incontinence, hemorrhoids, inflammatory bowel disease, and intestinal endometriosis. He is known for using the latest technology and spending time with each patient to ensure that they fully understand their condition and treatment options.

Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Snyder attended Louisiana State University, where he earned bachelor degrees in microbiology and chemistry and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, America’s most prestigious honor society. He graduated with his medical degree from the Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport, also earning induction into Alpha Omega Alpha. 

Thereafter, he began his residency in general surgery at William Beaumont Army Medical Center before being deployed with the 3rd Army Cavalry Regiment to Saudi Arabia and Iraq in Operation Desert Shield/Storm. He returned to complete his residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii and serve in the army at Fort Stewart, Georgia, before completing his residency in colon and rectal surgery at UTHealth.

Recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the doctor is board-certified in colon & rectal surgery by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery, which is a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties that issues certificates for practitioners of Colorectal surgery.

Moreover, he is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Snyder has played an active role in advancing the field of colon and rectal surgery. He has served as President of the Texas Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and on the Residency Review Committee for Colon and Rectal Surgery. Currently, he is the Chairman of the Board of Socioeconomics for the Harris County Medical Society.
