The team at Thyroid Endocrinology and Diabetes have significant training in diagnosing any disorder related to the thyroid gland and endocrine system. The practice provides on-site diagnostic tests that include blood panels, ultrasound imaging, and biopsies. The board-certified doctors use some of the most innovative diagnostic tests available, including the Afirma® Thyroid FNA Analysis test.
In addition to the latest in diagnostics, the practice also offers hormone replacement therapy as a cutting-edge medical option to treat hormonal imbalances and the many issues they can cause. The team also understands that each patient is unique and uses a comprehensive, tailored approach to each individual’s care.
A firm believer in sharing his invaluable experience with the next generation of health care providers, Dr. Fordan serves as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. He is also a volunteer faculty member at Dallas Methodist Hospital’s internal medicine residency program.
With a broad educational background, Dr. Fordan went to college at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, where he studied biology and performed research in Drosophila olfaction. He also did a research fellowship at Harvard School of Public Health in Cambridge, Massachusetts where he did research in atherosclerosis. He completed his medical degree and residency in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He then did his specialized training in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
Throughout his career, Dr. Fordan has taken part in numerous studies and clinical trials. He specialized in clinical diabetes research and initiated a study to examine the effects of diabetes control on hospital outcomes at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He was also on a team that studied idiopathic short stature at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
Despite his extensive training, he continues to take a proactive approach to his continuing education to expand his knowledge and practical training. He is currently the primary investigator for several studies in obesity, cholesterol, diabetes, parathyroid disease, and thyroid cancer.
Awarded the distinction of Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (FACE) and Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), Dr. Fordan is an active member of the Endocrine Society, the American Diabetes Association, the American Thyroid Association, and the Texas Medical Association.
As a recognized expert in his field, he is board-certified in internal medicine and endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
The author of many peer-reviewed articles, Dr. Fordan has also reviewed articles and complex case-studies for a number of his colleagues across the nation.
