Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Joshua S. Bingham, who serves patients in Phoenix, Arizona.

A devoted orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Bingham is affiliated with Mayo Clinic in Arizona, seeing patients at their campus in Phoenix. His areas of clinical interest include hip preservation surgery, and primary & revision hip and knee arthroplasty.

After graduating with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Brigham Young University in 2008, Dr. Bingham went on to earn his medical degree from the Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2012, and completed his internship at the Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in 2013.

Subsequently, he attended the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in Arizona for his residency training in orthopedic surgery, and completed a fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Finally, he completed a European fellowship in hip reconstruction with the M.E. Muller Foundation of North America, visiting top educational venues in England, France, Germany, and Italy.

Passionate about his profession, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

On a professional level, Dr. Bingham is an active member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the Outpatient Total Joint Replacement Education Planning Committee, Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.

Among his various accolades, Dr. Bingham has been the recipient of the First Place Award for an Evidence-Based Clinical Prediction Algorithm for the Musculoskeletal Infections Society by the Arizona Orthopedic Society (2016), Third Place Award for Screening For Periprosthetic Joint Infections with ESR and CRP: The Ideal Cutoffs (2016), First Place Award for Alpha Defensins-I Assay in Diagnosing Periprosthetic Joints Infections and Managing Second-Stage Revisions by the Arizona Orthopedic Society (2014), Nannie and Luther Upton Memorial Scholarship, and Nancy Thiemeyer Scholarship by Eastern Virginia Medical School (2010).
