Get to know Psychologist Dr. Holly VanderWalde, who serves patients in Lutherville, Maryland.

Dr. VanderWalde is a licensed psychologist in the state of Maryland. She specializes in child and adolescent psychology, with a subspecialty in psychoeducational assessment.

Dr. VanderWalde is currently serving patients at her private practice, located in Lutherville, Maryland. Her practice focuses on providing comprehensive psychological assessments to children, adolescents, and young adults in order to help them and their families receive diagnostic clarity. With this clarity, they can make informed and appropriate treatment recommendations for optimal future success.

Dr. VanderWalde graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2006. Wanting to further her education, she went on to earn her Master’s degree (2010) and her PhD (2013) in Human Services Psychology with a focus in Child Clinical Psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in Baltimore, Maryland. Thereafter, Dr. VanderWalde completed her internship and fellowship training at Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Throughout her doctoral training, Dr. VanderWalde worked at Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital, the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., as well as within charter schools in D.C. – completing various practicums in these settings.

Dr. VanderWalde is certified by the Board of Examiners of Psychologists. She attributes her success to having great mentors.

Psychology is the science of behavior and mind. It includes the study of conscious and unconscious phenomena, as well as feeling and thought. As a psychologist, Dr. VanderWalde specializes in psychological assessment and therapy for a wide range of presenting concerns, including academic, social, emotional, and behavioral issues. Her expertise includes providing assessments and evaluations for children and young adults with learning disabilities, ADHD, anxiety, autism spectrum disorders, as well as other social, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Additionally, she is well trained in treatment and therapy of the concerns mentioned above, as well as in pediatric feeding disorders, childhood obesity, and diabetes.

In order to provide the most comprehensive assessments, Dr. VanderWalde works not only with her patients, but with their families, treatment providers, and school personnel. With the help of all of the involved parties, her goal is to help the child reach their greatest potential.
