Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Salman Bandeali, who serves patients in Houston, Texas.

An enthusiastic cardiologist, Dr. Bandeali is affiliated with Texas Heart and Vascular Specialists, PA in Houston, Texas. His clinical interests are broad and include cardiovascular disease prevention, coronary atherosclerosis, peripheral arterial disease, valvular heart disease and cardiogenic shock and high-risk intervention.

Born in Karachi, Pakistan, Dr. Bandeali was extremely successful right from the start and was able to enter the prestigious Aga Khan University where he pursued a career in medicine. During his tenure at Aga Khan, his success continued, as he was elected the top performing student.

Upon emigrating to the United States, he gained a position in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at the Baylor College of Medicine. He was awarded a multitude of awards, all demonstrating him to be at the top of his class and a phenomenal young clinician. In addition, he was a prolific scholar and was able to publish more than 50 articles, winning many research competitions, and becoming a member of multiple medical societies.

As his training progressed, Dr. Bandeali felt the subspecialty of cardiology best suited his interests. Given his unparalleled success, he was offered a cardiology position at numerous institutions but decided to pursue further training in Houston, a city that he was beginning to call home. He pursued further training at the Texas Heart Institute. 

As a cardiology fellow, he continued to excel. He was awarded the CCU Fellow of the Year Award for his bedside care, an honor bestowed by the nursing staff. In his final year of general training, he was awarded the Tauber Award for being the most outstanding cardiovascular fellow as selected by the faculty of Texas Heart Institute. 

Subsequently, Dr. Bandeali went on to pursue interventional cardiology training at the Texas Heart Institute, where he served as Chief Interventional Fellow amongst his peers. During this time of rigorous clinical training, he remained true to his academic roots and continued to publish another 15 manuscripts in addition to being a coauthor on numerous book chapters. He also gave back to the community by starting an observership program for foreign medical students interested in cardiology.

Distinguished as a Diplomate of the National Board of Echocardiography, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).

As a testament to his success, Dr. Bandeali is routinely selected as a top doctor amongst his colleagues.

Known by his staff as “Sal”, he enjoys exploring the various Houston restaurants with his wife and volunteering with his local community. Speaking multiple languages, he is fluent in English, Hindi, and Urdu.
