Dr. Lascarides is a board-certified gastroenterologist and a founding member of Mather Gastroenterology. After graduating summa cum laude from New York University’s College of Arts and Science, Dr. Lascarides completed his medical degree at the NYU School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. Dr. Lascarides completed his internship and residency at the prestigious NYU-Bellevue Internal Medicine Residency Program, followed by a highly selective fellowship in gastroenterology at NYU-Bellevue in association with the Manhattan Veterans Affairs Hospital.
A Long Island native, Dr. Lascarides began his career in 2003 as an attending gastroenterologist in private practice at the NYU-affiliated Great Neck Medical Group. In 2008, Dr. Lascarides joined the faculty at the Stony Brook University School of Medicine where, as Associate Professor of Medicine, he spearheaded expanded access to outpatient gastroenterological care and colorectal cancer screening. As a 9/11 first responder, Dr. Lascarides has dedicated two decades of his career to providing unsurpassed care to Long Island’s World Trade Center responders. He has been a leading medical educator and has been instrumental in the training of the next generation of medical students, interns, residents and GI physicians.
Dr Lascarides is excited to bring his expertise in general gastroenterology to the Harborview and Mather Hospital family, with the vision and resources to better serve his growing practice. Dr. Lascarides specializes in colon cancer screening and is highly skilled in performing endoscopic procedures including colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, upper endoscopy and small bowel video capsule endoscopy. Dr. Lascarides brings an extensive degree of expertise to the treatment of gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD), Barrett’s esophagus, difficult-to-remove colon polyps, diverticular diseases, peptic ulcer disease, Celiac disease, World Trade Center-related gastrointestinal issues and other luminal GI disorders.
