  • Should you use mouthwash before bed?

Hi! Great question! I personally recommend to all my patients to brush, floss and use a fluoridated mouthwash before going to bed. The fluoride helps to prevent cavities. Hope this helps! READ MORE

  • How can I speed up the progress of my braces?

Hi! That is a great question for your orthodontist, but from my clinical experience, teeth take time to move through the bone. It does not happen fast and moving teeth too fast can be a bad thing and cause future problems. Hang in there and time will pass! Hope this helps! READ MORE

  • Can I use mouthwash 1 week after extraction?

Hi! Yes you can. Continue to be gentle with swishing though. Do not vigorously swish. Hope this helps. READ MORE

  • What is the best option to fix a gap between front teeth?

Hi! This is a great question! It all depends on the overall teeth alignment in the mouth. Sometimes, it's better to do orthodontics and straighten all the teeth to get them back into a better position. This will both fix the bite, teeth alignment, and also close the gap in between the teeth. Orthodontics is always a great option. Another option, depending on the size of the gap and how your teeth fit together, are veneers or crowns are as well. Again, an overall complete evaluation of the mouth would have to be done because there are many factors that come into play when deciding the right treatment for you. Every patient is different and every patient may require something different tailored to them specifically. I hope this helps! READ MORE

  • How long should I wear retainers after braces?

Hi! Forever! You should wear your retainers at night forever to prevent the teeth from crowding and moving out of position. As we age, our teeth will move and we need to hold them in place. A retainer is worn at night to help prevent what we call, relapse of the teeth. READ MORE

  • Can you put a crown on a tooth without a root canal?

Hi! Typically crowns are put on teeth that do not have root canals. You don't need to have a root canal on a tooth in order to have a crown. A crown can be placed on a tooth that is completely normal and alive, but has cracks or has a fracture. Hope this helps! READ MORE

  • Does pericoronitis go away with antibiotics?

Hi! This is a great question! Antibiotics will help temporarily, but will not eliminate the inflammation. We typically see this around wisdom teeth and the tissue around the tooth will continue to be inflamed until the wisdom tooth is taken out or the excess tissue is removed with a minor gum procedure. Your dentist or an oral surgeon can evaluate the extent of the inflammation and decide what treatment is best tailored for you. Hope this helps! READ MORE

  • How can I relieve pain from a retainer?

Hi! It depends on where it hurts from? Are their sharp edges around the plastic? Is the retainer tight around the teeth since its new? Normally, retainers fit snug at first and then they start to stretch over time. I would consult with your dentist or orthodontist that gave you the retainer to see where the problem may be. READ MORE

  • How long you have to wear a retainer after Invisalign?

Hi! Yes you need to wear a retainer after orthodontic treatment. It is recommended that patients wear their retainer every night for the rest of their life to prevent the teeth from shifting. Hope this helps! READ MORE

  • Is gum pain normal after root canal?

Hi! Gum pain after a root canal depends on when the root canal was completed. If you just had the root canal done today or yesterday, then the tissue may be a little sore since the root canal specialist uses what we call a rubber dam, to isolate the tooth and keep it clean. The pain should subside after a day or two. If you have other issues, I would reach out to your dentist or root canal specialist to check the area to make sure there is no infection or trauma. Hope this helps! READ MORE

  • What can I eat with the molar crown?

Hi! You can treat it like a natural tooth. However, I do tell my patients that they can not chew on ice or hard candy as I would never recommend this for our natural teeth either. Hope this helps! READ MORE

  • How much does gum surgery hurt?

Hi! It all depends on the surgery itself, length of time, what's involved and the patient. This would be a great question for the surgeon that will be performing the surgery for you. Hope this helps! READ MORE

  • Can a tooth get infected under a bridge?

Hi! That's a great question. Yes, a tooth can be infected under a bridge. A tooth that is connected to a bridge that is not cleaned properly will accumulate plaque and bacteria, which can lead to a cavity on that tooth or even both teeth that are used to connect the bridge. If this cavity progresses, it can lead to the tooth needing a root canal, which, if left untreated, will develop an infection at the end of the root. There are other reasons why a tooth can get an infection, for example, if a tooth is fractured, it can develop an infection as well. I hope this helps! READ MORE

  • Can dental implants cause sore throat?

Hi! In my professional experience, I have not seen a patient getting a sore throat from a dental implant. There could be another underlying cause for it. READ MORE

  • How long does dental implant pain last?

Hi! I am so sorry that you still are experiencing pain. Typically, when a surgical procedure is done, such as an extraction or a dental implant, the pain will usually peak at day 3-4 and will subside and get better with a little soreness. Some patients in my practice experience no pain which is great! While others say that have a little pain, but only last for a few days and subsides. In more complex cases, if the procedure was difficult or took longer, the pain may last a little longer. If you continue to experience pain, I would consult with your dentist to make sure everything looks healthy and there is no infection. Hope this helps! READ MORE

  • What is the best pain reliever after a root canal?

Hi! Usually this is up to the treating doctor. If pain medications are needed after a root canal is done, I typically like to prescribe or have patients take ibuprofen if it allows with the patients medical history. I would consult with the dentist that did the root canal to see what they would recommend specifically for you. READ MORE

  • Does vinegar remove tartar from teeth?

Hi! I am unsure if vinegar removes tartar from teeth. I personally believe routine dental cleanings every 4-6 months with proper home care is the best solution. Hope this helps! READ MORE

  • What is the gel like substance I spit out when I use mouthwash?

Hi! What type of mouthwash are you using? In my experience, most mouthwashes that I recommend to my patients are liquid. I am unsure of the gel consistency. READ MORE
