Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Oleg I. Krijanovski, who serves patients in Berkeley, California.

A board-certified hematologist-oncologist with a focus on hematological malignancy, Dr. Krijanovski is the Director of the Malignant Hematology Program at Sutter Alta Bates Summit Medical Center - Comprehensive Cancer Center in Berkeley, California.

Sutter Health Alta Bates Summit Medical Center is located in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. Its three hospital campuses are located in Berkeley and Oakland. Alta Bates Summit is a non-profit community-based medical center and is part of Sutter Health.

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Krijanovski graduated with his medical degree from Russian State Medical University in 1985. He then went on to perform his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology, his residency in internal medicine, and his fellowship in hematology and medical oncology with the University of Michigan Health System in 2001, 2003, and 2006, respectively. He also completed an additional post-doctoral research fellowship within the Pediatric Oncology Department at Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer, malignant blood diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, and blood disorders such as iron-deficiency anemia, clotting abnormalities, hemophilia, and sickle-cell disease.
