In Iran, Dr. Mahdavian graduated with his medical degree from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in 1992. He then relocated to the United States, performing his internship and residency at Edgewater Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident.
After completing his fellowship in gastroenterology at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, he was a researcher and extensive lecturer in a variety of gastroenterology topics at Chicago Medical School and Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
In his role with several gastrointestinal professional societies, Dr. Mahdavian is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Medical Association, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
With a focus on the health of the digestive tract, he is board-certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
