Get to know Obesity Medicine Specialist Dr. Zaid Jabbar, who serves patients in Oak Brook, Illinois.

Having been in practice for over two decades, he believes in creating close relationships with his patients based on mutual trust, respect, and honesty. His clinical interests include nutrition, cholesterol management, and preventive cardiology.

Pertaining to his educational pursuits, Dr. Jabbar graduated with distinction from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999. He then went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 2005, after which he completed his residency in internal medicine at Loyola University Medical Center in 2008.

An expert in his field, the doctor is board-certified in obesity medicine by the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM). The ABOM is a 501 nonprofit, self-appointed physician-evaluation organization that certifies physicians practicing obesity medicine. 

Moreover, he is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Professionally, Dr. Jabbar is an active member of several medical associations, including the Obesity Medicine Association, the National Lipid Association, the American Medical Student Association, the American College of Physicians-Internal Medicine, and the Illinois Obesity Society, which he co-founded and currently serves as Vice President.

Obesity medicine is the field of medicine dedicated to the comprehensive care of patients with obesity. Outside of his medical practice, he enjoys various personal interests, including soccer, table tennis, running, foosball, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He also enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.
