Among her academic appointments, she serves as an Assistant Professor at Loma Linda University School of Medicine.

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Yomtoubian graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and Immunology and Molecular Genetics at UCLA in 2004. She then went on to earn her medical degree from New York Medical College in 2009, after which she performed her residency in emergency medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens.

Following her training, she attained board certification in emergency medicine through the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). The ABEM certifies emergency physicians who meet its educational, professional, and examination standards.  She subsequently completed her Administrative Fellowship at Loma Linda University Medical Center working directly with the Chairwoman and administrators throughout the hospital and various departments.  With this experience she became the Medical Director of the Emergency Department Observation Unit at Loma Linda University Medical Center and Assistant Director of the Emergency Department at Saint Vincent Medical Center.  

Maintaining professional competence, Dr. Yomtoubian is an active member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine.  In 2020 Dr. Yomtoubian was appointed as an expert reviewer by the Medical Board of California.  

Dr. Yomtoubian has made it a priority in her medical career to focus on world health.  She went to the Island of Crete, Greece to help establish emergency medicine infrastructure and teach ultrasound.  She has also traveled to Nicaragua, second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, on medical mission trips providing free medical care and taking medical supplies to the cities most in need.  

Dr. Yomtoubian has also made the national emergency of opioid and substance abuse disorder a prime concern as she has treated countless drug overdose patients in her career.  She obtained a state grant from the California Bridge Program to advance the use of evidence-based medications for addiction treatment (MAT) to reduce relapse among patients with opioid abuse disorder and connecting them with outpatient long-term treatment.  

Emergency medicine, also known as accident and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. A pediatric emergency physician is a specialist in the care of children and teens who are acutely ill or injured. They are trained to care for a wide range of problems that require immediate medical help. These problems are often serious and may be life-threatening.
