Get to know Emergency Physician Dr. Gary R. Wakeman, who serves patients in Gloversville, New York.

Dr. Wakeman is a board-certified emergency physician with special training and skill in addressing urgent illnesses and injuries in patients of all ages. Since 2013, he has been a part of the staff at Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home in Gloversville, New York.

Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home, located on the Nathan Littauer Hospital campus, is a short- and long-term residential health care facility that provides a wide range of medical services, rehabilitative services, and skilled nursing care for each individual resident. The staff is proud to provide a caring and safe environment that focuses on both the physical and emotional well-being of residents while they are in their care. The facility can house up to 84 men and women who require individualized care and nursing services.

A 1976 graduate of Albany Medical College, Dr. Wakeman went on to perform his internship at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital in 1977. He followed this up with a residency in family medicine at the University of Minnesota at Fairview in 1979.

With an unwavering commitment to his speciality, he is board-certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). The ABEM certifies emergency physicians who meet its educational, professional, and examination standards.

Emergency medicine, also known as trauma and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of life threatening medical conditions or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. They are trained to care for a wide range of problems that require emergent medical help. These problems are often serious and may be life-threatening.
