et to know Vascular Surgeon Dr. Patrick C. Ryan, who serves patients in Nashville, Tennessee.

Dr. Ryan is a board-certified vascular surgeon who is currently serving patients at his private practice, the Nashville Vein and Vascular Institute (NVAVI) located in Nashville, Tennessee. The purpose of the NVAVI is to provide exceptional care to patients with vascular disorders, all the while utilizing the latest advances in vascular surgery and minimally invasive endovascular techniques. “I launched NVAVI because I had some very strong ideas about how I wanted a vascular surgery practice to be run. I really want to be a trailblazer in the delivery of quality vascular care” as stated by Dr. Ryan.

Dr. Ryan is also affiliated with Centennial Medical Center and St. Thomas Midtown. Dr. Ryan is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, the Society for Vascular Medicine, and the Nashville Surgical Society. He is the Medical Director of the MidSouth Vascular Study Group, a regional affiliation of the Vascular Quality Initiative.

Dr. Ryan is board-certified in both general surgery and vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.   

Dr. Ryan’s interest in medicine began by watching his father, a general practitioner, care for patients. Born in Canada, he moved around the United States as a child. His family had settled in South Carolina by the time he was in high school and Dr. Ryan discovered how much he enjoyed science, particularly the human sciences. Although the interest in medicine was already there, he spent some time waiting tables in Charleston while he earned money and figured out exactly what career path to take.

Dr. Ryan earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. He then went on to complete his internship and residency in general surgery at Carilion Clinic, followed by his fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of Kansas. Dr. Ryan’s work philosophy is that the most important goal is providing high quality care to patients. The second most important thing is to provide an inviting, respectful work environment.
