Recognized and admired for his efficiency and strong character, Dr. Livingston is a skilled retina-trained ophthalmologist who is the Founder of Macula & Diabetic Eye Center, LLC in Bradenton, Florida. 

At his practice, he treats eye conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, detached and torn retina, glaucoma, floaters and flashes, dry eye, vascular eye diseases, and low vision. By making use of innovative procedures and the latest technologies in eye care, he aims to provide each patient with the compassionate eye care they deserve. 

Alongside his clinical role, Dr. Livingston serves as an Affiliate Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida (since 2010) and as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Louisiana State University (since 2007). 

To date, he remains affiliated with several hospitals and medical centers, including Blake Medical Center, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, Manatee Memorial Hospital, Sarasota Memorial Hospital, and Tampa General Hospital.

With over two decades of experience in his field, Dr. Livingston was the first ophthalmologist in ArkLaMiss to embrace Avastin injections for AMD, diabetes and retinal vascular disease, sutureless vitrectomies, and endoscopic vitrectomies. Named a Top Doctor by Louisiana Life Magazine in 2007, he practiced in Louisiana for 10 years and was the Founder of the Low Vision Support Group of Northeast Louisiana.

He was affiliated with the Massachusetts Medical Society, where he served on the Finance Committee (1991-1992) and on the Executive Board (1988-1992). He also served as Chairman of the Massachusetts Medical Society Scientific Symposium; Instructor of Biochemistry, Histology, and Problem Based Learning at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (1987-1988); and Ophthalmologist at Sarasota Retina Institute (9/15/08 – 9/23/09). 

After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Massachusetts, Dr. Livingston went on to obtain his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1994. He then went on to complete his internship at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in 1995, followed by his residency in ophthalmology and his retina fellowship at the University of South Florida in Tampa in 1998 and 1999, respectively. 

Prior to his training, he was a published researcher and author in viral immunology, and he adopted the in office vitrectomy techniques using the Innovit system. He served as a Research Associate within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center (3/85 – 1/87), a Research Assistant at the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology (6/84 – 3/85), and a Research Assistant at the University of Massachusetts (2/84 – 6/84). 

Aided by his vast expertise, the doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, whose mission is to serve the public by improving the quality of ophthalmic practice through a process of certification and Maintenance of Certification that fosters excellence and encourages continual learning. 

In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, he is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists, the American Academy of Ophthalmic Executives, the Florida Society of Ophthalmology, the Florida Medical Association, the Manatee County Medical Society, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. They may provide routine care such as vision testing, as well as prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery. 

Throughout his extensive career, Dr. Livingston has conducted and / or published numerous clinical studies, publications, abstracts, and newspaper articles. He has also patented his own glasses, as well as has given lectures on various topics relating to his field, including “Macular Degeneration”, “Ocular Complications of Diabetes”, and “Retinal Specialists” at the 2000 Annual Convention of the Optometry Association of Louisiana, among many others. 

In his personal life, Dr. Livingston and his family reside in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, the state in which he was born. He has two children, Channing and Traxson.
