What are the risk factor associated with a plastic surgery?
That is a good question. The most important thing to do is to find a board-certified plastic surgeon. You can look for one locally on plasticsurgery.org. They should be able to answer all of your questions about the potential risks (and benefits) of your operation. Good luck! READ MORE
Can liposuction work for diabetic patients?
Liposuction can be done in a diabetic. However, your blood sugars should be under control, because that can influence wound healing. Liposuction is not good for weight reduction. It is better for pinchable fat that won't go away with diet or exercise. Visit a board-certified plastic surgeon for a consultation and see what they think. Good luck! Dr. Keagle READ MORE
Is a cosmetic surgery the same as a plastic surgery?
Great question! And one of my favorite ones to answer. These days, many different people are saying they are plastic or cosmetic surgeons. Only board-certified plastic surgeons are plastic surgeons. A plastic surgeon may decide to do more aesthetic or cosmetic procedures. But, we are trained to operate all over the body for reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. Cosmetic surgeons typically have an MD, but did not do the rigorous training required to be a plastic surgeon and did not take and are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. If they are members of ASPS or ASAPS, then they are plastic surgeons. READ MORE
Is botox safe for a 56 year old woman with diabetes?
Botox is typically fine for patients with diabetes. Contraindications for botox are people with neurologic disorders since it works biologically at the nerve level. Good luck and I hope you love your appearance with it! READ MORE
How safe is a face contouring treatment?
All procedures have some sort of risk. I would ask the clinic before undergoing the treatment. Your safest course of action would be to find a board-certified Plastic Surgeon and visit them to have your treatments done. READ MORE
I have a burn mark from childhood. How can i get rid of it?
Thanks for the great question. There are several ways to treat burn scars. It depends on the severity of the burn scar and the texture/coloring of your skin. If you are getting married in a year, I would recommend seeing a board certified Plastic Surgeon soon to see what they recommend. It could be as easy as a steroid injection or laser treatment to surgery. If you are in the LA area, I would be happy to see you. Call 213-250-1300 to schedule your consult. READ MORE

How to correct a scar that is present between the eyebrows?
Thanks for your question. Obviously, if I saw the scar, I would be able to give a complete answer. However, some scars can be treated with laser rather than surgery. First step is to have a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. READ MORE
After cleft palate surgery will my daughter be able to speak well?
Thanks for writing. I am assuming your daughter is part of a multidisciplinary cleft palate team. As you know, she is getting her cleft palate repaired relatively late in age. Repairing the anatomy of the cleft palate will definitely help with nasal air leakage with speech and food coming through the nose. She should continue with her intense speech therapy postop as prescribed by your craniofacial surgeon. All of those together should make your daughter's speech better. Best of luck, hope that helps. Can anything be done about my hip shape?
Something can be done about your hip shape if the shape is due to fat rather than bony structure. Your pelvic bones cant be broken and reshaped. However, if there is excess fat, we can reshape with surgical (liposuction) and non-surgical techniques (Coolsculpting). Your first step is a consultation with a board-certified Plastic Surgeon. Mom died of breast cancer- need feedback on nipple sparing masectomy
This is a great question. There are a couple of issues that come up here. Have you been tested for BRCA? I would start with that. If you want to pursue bilateral mastectomies after doing that, I would suggest a consult with myself and the breast surgeon I work with. We would determine whether nipple-sparing would work for you. Since you already have implants, immediate reconstruction without expanders is a distinct possibility. I am happy to see you for a consult to help get the process started. Let me know... READ MORE
