A trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Tavani is the Medical Director of Christiana Psychiatric Services in Newark, Delaware. Her work is primarily with patients hospitalized with those conditions, and she has a limited outpatient practice. 

Regarding her educational background, Dr. Tavani earned her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. She then went on to complete her internship at Christiana Care Health Services  followed by her residency in psychiatry at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Recognized as a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (DLFAPA), she is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

A member of the American Medical Association, Dr. Tavani is a past President of the Medical Society of Delaware, the Psychiatric Society of Delaware and the Medical-Dental Staff of Christiana Care Health System – the first woman to hold those positions – and of the Psychiatric Society of Delaware.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various difficulties related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. As a testament of her dedication to her patients, Dr. Tavani received the Patients’ Choice Award (2016) and On-Time Doctor Award (2016). She has consistently been voted as a Top Doc by her colleagues as annually published in Delaware Today.
