Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Mejdi Ahmad, who serves patients in Greenlawn, New York. 

Board-certified gastroenterologist, Dr. Ahmad, believes that the patient-provider relationship should be built on mutual trust and plays a crucial part in patient care. He does his best to communicate the information patients need to make the right choices. Currently, he is affiliated with Mount Sinai Doctors Long Island in Greenlawn, New York. He has served as a Gastroenterologist in this medical group since 2001. He has hospital privileges at Northwell Huntington Hospital. He is skilled in all facets of diagnostic and therapeutic upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. 

Mount Sinai Doctors Long Island is a respected practice that has offered comprehensive health care to the people of Long Island. The practice began with just three doctors, the first board-certified physicians in Suffolk County. In 1995, Dr. Ahmad earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences Center in Brooklyn. He then went on to complete his residency in internal medicine at North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset, followed by his fellowship in gastroenterology at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Dr. Ahmad has performed research investigating the role of Opioid Growth Factor in advanced pancreatic cancer patients which was published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology in 2000 and in Anti-Cancer Drugs in 2004. 

On the subject of the doctor’s accomplishments, he is board-certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. A gastroenterologist is a physician who has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the esophagus, stomach, small intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, and biliary system. 

Dr. Ahmad and his wife live in Dix Hills, New York. He has four children. He enjoys playing tennis and swimming. He enjoys traveling. He has served in various community organizations in the New York region.
