Get to know Endocrinologist Dr. Ana X. Mendoza Salazar, who serves patients in Bangor, Maine.

A devoted endocrinologist, Dr. Mendoza Salazar is affiliated with Veterans Health Administration (VHA) in Bangor, Maine.

Before embarking on her professional journey, she graduated with her medical degree from the Universidad de Montemorelos School of Medicine in Mexico in 2000, and completed her residency in internal medicine at the Einstein Medical Center in 2005. In order to further her training, she completed a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 2008.

Following her training, the doctor attained board certification in endocrinology, diabetes, metabolism and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (FACE), Dr. Mendoza Salazar received her Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound (ECNU).

Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in the body. The common diseases and disorders of the endocrine system that endocrinologists deal with include diabetes mellitus, as well as adrenal, pituitary, and thyroid disorders, among others.
