Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Ahmad Hadid, who serves the New Windsor area at several local hospitals. Dr. Hadid graduated from Damascus University in Damascus, Syria where he achieved the academic excellence award. He completed his internal medicine residency at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center in the Bronx, NY and was awarded the most Outstanding Resident of the Year award, the Best Teaching Award of the Year and the Best Leadership Award of the Year. Dr. Hadid completed a fellowship in Cardiology and a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at Westchester Medical Center, where he was also the Chief of Cardiology Fellows. Dr. Hadid is Board Certified in Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiology and Internal Medicine. Currently, Dr. Hadid practices at Westchester Medical Center and is also affiliated with St. Luke’s Hospital in Cornwall and Newburgh, where he is the Chairperson of the Cardiology Department. Throughout his practice, he specializes in the treatment of heart disease, such as congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart rhythm disorders and heart failure. To stay current in his field, Dr. Hadid has become a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Additionally, he has authored publications in peer reviewed journals such as Heart Disease. He completes research to further the field of cardiology and to provide his patients the best possible care he can offer. Cardiology is a branch of internal medicine. A cardiologist is not the same as a cardiac surgeon. A cardiac surgeon opens the chest and performs heart surgery, whereas a cardiologist specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases of the cardiovascular system. The cardiologist will carry out tests and they may perform some procedures, such as heart catheterization, angioplasty or pacemaker insertion. Dr. Hadid has been practicing for over twenty years and has become a recognized expert in the field of cardiology. With a large practice, Dr. Hadid is able to see a wide range of patients and ensure they receive the highest standard of care.
