A proven psychiatrist, Dr. Villarreal sees patients at his private practice in Kailua, Hawaii.

Throughout his academic career, he earned his medical degree from the Metropolitan University Faculty of Medicine in Colombia in 1993. After relocating to the United States, he went on to complete his residency in psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the Yale University School of Medicine, and his fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at the University of Hawaii.

Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.
