Dr. Valecillos is an experienced specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation. She serves as PM&R Inpatient Consultant Medical Director at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and at the Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center within Jackson Memorial Hospital.

There, she provides comprehensive evaluation and recommendations of medical conditions including brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, stroke, amputations, and cancer survivors, organ transplants patients, etc. Her areas of expertise include musculoskeletal syndromes in adults, fibromyalgia, myofascial pain, osteoarthritis, back and spine disorders (non-interventional management), strain/sprains, and tendonitis/bursitis.

With a special interest in the global exchange of foreign medical students and physicians, Dr. Valecillos serves as Director of the PM&R Observership Program of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine / Jackson Memorial Hospital. She is also Chair of the PM&R Inpatient Consultant Member Community of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

At the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, she is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Her teaching interest is in international physical medicine and rehabilitation with special interest in brain injury medicine.

After earning her medical degree with Honors from the University of Zulia, Venezuela, Dr. Valecillos completed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at New York Medical College. There, she also received a 1-year training in psychiatry.

Focusing on a patient’s ability to function, she is board-certified in brain injury medicine & physical medicine and rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The mission of the ABPMR is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation. This is accomplished through a process of certification and maintenance of certification that fosters excellence and encourages continuous learning.
