About

Dr. Jamie McKenzie is a dedicated bilingual (Spanish) optometrist practicing in Haslett, MI. Dr. McKenzie grew up in Brighton, Michigan and attended Brighton High School. She attended Michigan State University from 2002 to 2006 where she received her bachelor's degree. She excelled in Track and Field while attending MSU. She enrolled and studied optometry at the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico after graduation in 2006. She received a Certificate of Commendation from the National Board of Examiners in Optometry for attaining the highest score on the part one applied basic science examination in March 2009. She had a particular love and acumen regarding neuro-ophthalmology and was chosen to be a TA (teaching assistant) in neuro-ophthalmology at the University.

Upon graduation, she was offered a position in the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute neuro-ophthalmology clinic but declined the offer since she longed to return to Michigan and her family. She then became fluent in Spanish. In her fourth year of optometry school, she did a rotation/internship training at Providence Hospital Northwest Eye Physicians with Tobias George MD and Fred Jardon MD. She received training in diagnosing and treating medical eye conditions/disease, cases involving systemic disease with secondary ocular involvement, and post-op cataract exams. She returned to Southeast Michigan and has been in private practice providing exceptional care to grateful patients who love her.
