An experienced anesthesiologist, Dr. Hyun works with patients at Fairfax Anesthesiology Associates in Falls Church, Virginia.

Fairfax Anesthesiology Associates (FAA) is a group practice comprised of 53 anesthesiologists and 60 certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) who provide care for more than 60,000 patients annually. FAA is the exclusive anesthesiology provider at Inova Health System’s Inova Fairfax Hospital.

Dr. Hyun has been practicing medicine since 1993, and he is board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He graduated from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1992.

Subsequently, he completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Main Line Health System in 1993 and continued his education with a residency in Anesthesiology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University from 1993 to 1996. From 1996 to 1997, he participated in a fellowship in Neuroanesthesiology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. 

Anesthesiology is the practice of medicine dedicated to pain relief and total care of the surgical patient before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine and pain medicine. An anesthesiologist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats all different types of pain. Pain is a wide spectrum of disorders including acute pain, chronic pain and cancer pain and sometimes a combination of these. Pain can also arise for many different reasons such as surgery, injury, nerve damage, and metabolic problems such as diabetes. Occasionally, it can even be the problem all by itself, without any obvious cause.
