Dr. Guedes is a board-certified pediatrician who specializes in providing exceptional care to children with complex medical issues.

He served as the Medical Director of both the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and the Pediatric Medical-Surgical Unit at AdventHealth for Children in Orlando, Florida from 1986 to 2018. Prior to that, he was director of Pediatric Intensive Care at Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital in Orlando. He is now the Medical Director of the CCK program, a treatment and diagnostic center for children with complex and rare illnesses.

“We’re dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate complex care for children. Our providers are leading specialists in complex pediatric conditions including neurofibromatosis, craniofacial disorders, pediatric cardiac care, pediatric palliative care, and more. We never forget that a healthcare setting can be an intimidating place for a child, and we go the extra mile to put the whole family at ease” as stated on their website.

Academically, Dr. Guedes earned his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville in 1969. He then went on to complete his residency in pediatrics at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center/Brooke Army Medical Center, followed by active duty. This was followed by a fellowship at UF Health Shands Hospital prior to moving to Orlando.

Following his education, he became board-certified in pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics, an independent, nonprofit organization whose certification is recognized throughout the world as a credential signifying a high level of physician competence.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. As a pediatrician, Dr. Guedes examines, diagnoses, and treats children of all ages with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses. He understands that children change rapidly and they must be approached with an appreciation for their stage of physical and mental development.
