Get to know Interventional Radiologist Dr. Tami C. Carrillo, who serves patients in Chicago, Illinois.

A skilled radiologist, Dr. Carrillo has been in practice with Cancer Treatment Centers of America since July 2019. She uses imaging to guide the diagnosis and treatment of cancer with minimally invasive techniques. She works closely with patients to offer a wide range of treatment options to address the patient’s cancer and personal needs.

“My goal is for patients to feel uniquely cared for and respected, I want my patients to feel they are receiving quality care and that they are informed and educated regarding their disease” expressed Dr. Carrillo.

By using minimally invasive and innovative techniques, she helps to reduce risk and improve quality of life for patients. In addition, she uses recent advances in interventional radiology, including irreversible electroporation, radioembolization, chemoembolization, cryoablation, radiofrequency ablation and vertebroplasty, to help reduce postoperative pain and improve recovery.

Before embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Carrillo received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri, and earned a Master’s degree from the University of Illinois Chicago College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs in Chicago, Illinois.

Subsequently, she graduated with her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, and completed an internship in internal medicine at Loyola University Health System. Later, she completed a residency in diagnostic radiology and a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at the University of Illinois Chicago Hospital.

Following her training, the doctor attained board certification in diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology through the American Board of Radiology (ABR).The mission of the ABR is to serve patients, the public, and the medical profession by certifying that its diplomats have acquired, demonstrated, and maintained a requisite standard of knowledge, skill, and understanding essential to the safe and competent practice of diagnostic radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.

Licensed in the states of Illinois and Wisconsin, Dr. Carrillo has an interest in clinical research and has contributed to several published articles and presentations. She is a member of many professional organizations, including the Society of Interventional Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, the American College of Radiology, and the American Medical Association.

Interventional radiology is a medical specialization that involves performing a range of imaging procedures to obtain images of the inside of the body. Vascular & interventional radiologists focus on diseases of the blood vessels and lymphatic system, but also treat other conditions such as cancer and infertility.
