Get to know Dr. Alberto Gasparoni, who serves patients in Iowa City, Iowa.

Dr. Gasparoni is a dentist serving Iowa City and the surrounding communities. He is associated with the University of Iowa’s College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics where he is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Oral Pathology, Radiology and Medicine. The University of Iowa’s College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics are one of only a few dental schools in the nation to offer advanced education in all ADA-recognized dental specialties. Every discipline has at least one national leader. Outreach programs focus on children, special needs patients and seniors, including our national award-winning Geriatric Mobile Dental Unit.

Dr. Gasparoni received his Doctor of Dental Science (DDS) from the University of Siena in Italy in 1985. He has also received a Master’s of Science (MS) in Oral Biology from the university of Missouri at Kansas City in 1997, a PhD in Oral Sciences from the University of Iowa in 2003, and a Doctor of Dental Science (DDS) from the University of Iowa in 2010.

Dr. Gasparoni maintains professional memberships with the International Association of Dental Research (IADR), the International Dental Association (IDA), the International College of Dentists (ICD), the American Dental Associations (ADA), and the Iowa Dental Association (IDA).

Dentistry is a healthcare profession concerned with the health and treatment of the mouth. As a dentist, Dr. Gasparoni provides preventative and regular maintenance treatments such as cleanings, fluoride treatments, X-rays (to look for cavities), cavity fillings. He also provides advice on proper brushing, flossing, and rinsing for the prevention of plaque buildup.

With a long career in the field, Dr. Gasparoni has treated thousands of patients. During his career, he has developed a research focus in differentiation pathways in normal human oral epithelia.
