Get to know Plastic Surgeon Dr. Pedro Vieira, who serves patients in Paramus, New Jersey.
Dr. Vieira is a board-certified plastic surgeon with over 10 years of surgical experience. He joined Dr. Luis Zapiach and Dr. John Cozzone at Art Plastic Surgery because of the practice’s dedication to evidence-based, personalized care.
He has performed hundreds of plastic surgery procedures, including rhinoplasty, facelift, and a full range of body procedures—including breast augmentation and tummy tucks. Today, he is most gratified when patients share satisfaction with their results. He knows that listening closely to each patient’s individual concerns helps guide the best treatment plan. His availability to talk with patients at any point ensures they are comfortable with every aspect of their care.
Among his other roles, he has medical privileges at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, Chilton Medical Center, Hackensack University Medical Center, and Pascack Valley Medical Center.
Dr. Vieira’s love for science and taking care of people prompted his college professors to steer him towards a career in medicine. He knew on the first day of surgical rotation in medical school that he was meant to be a surgeon. Eventually, his meticulous nature and eye for detail led him to plastic surgery.
After completing general surgery residency, at the New Jersey Medical School program, he worked as a general surgeon in Hunterdon County. He started his path towards a career in plastic and reconstructive surgery by first entering a burn surgery fellowship at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, New York.
During plastic surgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic Florida, he honed his surgical skills to address reconstruction from an aesthetic perspective. This training provided him with countless cases to apply surgical skills and artistic finesse to bring patients from disfigurement to wholeness. On his first medical mission trip, he developed a love for craniofacial surgery. This led him to pursue a craniofacial surgery fellowship at the University of Texas South Western in Dallas, Texas.
A member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, he is board-certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). The mission of the ABPS is to promote safe, ethical, efficacious plastic surgery to the public by maintaining high standards for the education, examination, certification, and continuous certification of plastic surgeons as specialists and subspecialists.
Furthermore, he is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.
Conducting surgical procedures using the latest and safest techniques in reconstructive and plastic surgery, Dr. Vieira stays up to date with the most recent research in all topics surrounding plastic surgery.
With minimally and non-invasive procedures becoming more advanced and effective every year, he also remains current in the techniques for injecting fillers such as Juvéderm® and Restylane®, Radiesse®. He is also skilled in the use of Dysport™ and BOTOX®.
When one of these non-surgical therapies fulfills a patient’s goals, Dr. Vieira is happy to help patients avoid surgery. The “liquid” rhinoplasty and facelift rejuvenate facial contours effectively for many patients, particularly those under 50.
Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. It can be divided into two main categories – reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery. A plastic surgeon’s primary responsibility is performing surgical and non-surgical procedures, and they use a variety of reparative and reconstructive techniques to get the job done.
Among his various accolades, Dr. Vieira has been the recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award, Humanism & Excellence in Teaching Award, and the Golden Apple Resident Teaching Award. His resident presentation on breast reconstruction won first place at the 2012 Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons conference.
Looking forward to yearly medical mission trips, he is currently working with Interplast South on mission trips to Honduras.
On a more personal note, his hobbies include mountain biking (“the faster the better”) and playing tennis. He lives in Bergen County.
