Get to know Oncologist Dr. Prasanthi Ganesa, who serves patients in Fort Worth, Texas.

Recognized as a trusted, fellowship-trained oncologist, Dr. Ganesa offers her patients the most up-to-date and aggressive options for fighting cancer, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, hormonal therapy, and biological therapy. She believes in working closely with cancer surgeons, radiation oncologists, and other medical professionals to provide a team approach, assuring each patient an opportunity for a cure and the highest quality of life.

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Ganesa completed her undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. She continued in the Aggie tradition with medical school at Texas A&M University Health Science Center College of Medicine. Upon graduation, she went on to complete her internship, residency in internal medicine, and fellowship in medical oncology at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Subsequent to her education, she earned board certification in internal medicine and medical oncology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Among her professional affiliations, Dr. Ganesa is a member of the Texas Medical Association, the Tarrant County Medical Society, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Texas Society of Clinical Oncology. 

Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A medical professional who practices oncology is an oncologist. An oncologist is a doctor who treats cancer and provides medical care for a person diagnosed with cancer. They lead a cancer treatment team of various healthcare professionals, treat patients with radiation therapy, coordinate treatment plans and prescribe various types of treatment, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy, as well as assist patients with pain management.

Honored as a Top Doctor by Fort Worth Magazine, Dr. Ganesa serves on several boards and hospital committees. She often speaks to corporate, community, and charity groups about prevention, early detection, and treatment of all types of cancer and specifically, breast cancer.

Outside of her medical practice, she has a passion for dance. She is a student of Kuchipudi Kalakshetra, an Indian classical dance school, and performs several times a year locally. She resides in Fort Worth with her husband and two sons.
