Get to know Interventional Pulmonologist Dr. Abdul Hamid Alraiyes, who serves patients in Illinois.
Dr. Alraiyes is an interventional pulmonologist with Advocate Medical Group – Park Ridge. He is also an attending physician at Advocate Condell Medical Center and Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.

Educated in Syria, Dr. Alraiyes graduated with his medical degree from Aleppo University School of Medicine in 1999. He then relocated to the United States, performing his residency in internal medicine at St. Vincent Charity Hospital from 2006 until 2009, serving as chief resident during his final year.
He followed up with a fellowship in sleep medicine at Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center in 2010, a fellowship in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine in 2013, and an additional fellowship in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine with Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 2014.
Board-certified in pulmonology disease, sleep medicine, critical care medicine, and internal medicine, Dr. Alraiyes is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Continuously advancing his efforts, he is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. He is also a Diplomate of the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology and holds Certificate of Completion for Critical Care Ultrasonography through the American College of Chest Physicians.
Interventional pulmonology is a maturing medical sub-specialty from its parent specialty of pulmonary medicine. It deals specifically with minimally invasive endoscopic and percutaneous procedures for diagnosis and treatment of neoplastic as well as non-neoplastic diseases of the airways, lungs, and pleura. Interventional pulmonologists offer diagnostic and treatment services for major lung problems including compressed airways, tumors, cancer, tuberculosis, and other airway stricture causes.
Serving as Chair of the Communication & Social Media Committee of the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology, Dr. Alraiyes earned the Service Achievement Award in 2022 and 2021.
