Get to know Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Shashi S. Bellur, who serves patients in Conroe and Huntsville, Texas.

Practicing since 1981, Dr. Bellur is a board-certified interventional cardiologist who specializes in the treatment of heart and peripheral vascular diseases. His goal is to provide prompt and attentive care to his patients while restoring them to their best level of health possible. 

Dr. Bellur is currently serving patients at The Heart & Vascular Specialists in Conroe and Huntsville, Texas. As a practice specializing in general and interventional cardiology, the goal of The Heart & Vascular Specialists is to provide prompt and attentive care to patients, restore them to their best level of health possible and provide the necessary resources and inspiration to encourage patients and those in the community to live better and more fulfilling heart-healthy lifestyles. 

Dr. Bellur is not only passionate about clinical practice but also teaching. He is involved with teaching the residents of the Conroe Family Residency Program and has had the distinct privilege of conducting research at one of the nation’s premier health institutes – NIH at Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Bellur earned his medical degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum located in India. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, followed by his fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. 

Dr. Bellur is board-certified in cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Dr. Bellur is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Fellowship is one of the most distinguished designations the College offers its members. It is the ultimate recognition of professional achievement. Dr. Bellur is a member of the Texas Medical Association, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. Additionally, Dr. Bellur was the recipient of the Patient’s Choice Award in 2011, 2012, and 2013.

Interventional cardiology is a branch of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter-based treatment of structural heart diseases. Interventional cardiologists specialize in treating a range of heart and vascular conditions through a process called catheterization. The physician inserts a tube called a catheter into one of the patient’s major blood vessels, usually in the thigh.

Dr. Bellur attributes his success to hard work and dedication to his patients. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, playing tennis, practicing yoga, and reading.
