Get to know Endocrinologist Dr. Naila M. Goldenberg, who serves patients in Mason, Ohio.

An established endocrinologist, Dr. Goldenberg is the Founder of Functional Cholesterol, Diabetes and Endocrinology Center in Mason, Ohio. Her practice encompasses integration of Western and Eastern approaches to patient care, as based on strong scientific evidence. She tailors the therapy to the patient based on their belief and comfort zone.

Her clinical interests focus on cholesterol and lipid related thrombo-embolic disorders, Hashimoto disease, diabetes, weight gain, PCOS, transgender care, menopause, andropause, and general endocrinology. She is passionate about her patients and is always looking for innovative approaches. She also offers a full spectrum of functional medicine services. Functional medicine looks at the root cause of endocrine and other disorders and focuses on unity of body-spirit and mind connection.

A native of Russia, Dr. Goldenberg graduated with her medical degree from the First State St. Petersburg Medical University. After relocating to the United States in 1996, she completed her residency in internal medicine at the Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2002. She then went on to complete a fellowship in clinical and research endocrinology at the University of Michigan in 2007.

Upon her return to Ohio, she worked at the Cholesterol Center with Dr. Charles Glueck while holding a post as an Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati. In 2012, she transitioned to the Mercy Endocrinology Clinic and in 2017 founded the Functional Cholesterol, Diabetes and  Endocrinology Center with focus on cholesterol and diabetes.

Subsequent to her education, the doctor attained board certification in endocrinology and clinical lipidology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. She is also certified by the Diabetes Technology Society.

Continuously advancing her efforts, Dr. Goldenberg is an active member of the IFM Functional Medicine, the American Medical Association, the Endocrine Society, and the National Lipid Association.

Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in the body. The common diseases and disorders of the endocrine system that endocrinologists deal with include diabetes mellitus, as well as adrenal, pituitary, and thyroid disorders, among others.

Among her various accolades, Dr. Goldenberg has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award (2018, 2017, 2011), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2018, 2017, 2015, 2011).

On a more personal note, she is fluent in both English and Russian.
