Dr. Darnell Blackmon is an accomplished and admired orthopedist surgeon with sub-specialties in Sports Medicine, foot and ankle conditions and arthroscopy and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Blackmon earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College, Nashville, Tennessee. Meharry Medical College is a graduate and professional institution that is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Founded in 1876 as the Medical Department of Central Tennessee College, it was the first medical school in the South for African Americans.

He completed his residency at Fletcher Allen Health Care, now known as University of Vermont Medical Center. This facility provides world-class orthopedic care for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of bone and joint disorders. Dr. Blackmon gained a Fellowship at Institute for Bone & Joint Disorders in Phoenix, Arizona.

Dr. Blackmon’s exemplary service in the military includes eight years as a surgical technician in the US Air Force Reserves. He is currently in the Reserves in Tulsa providing services as an orthopaedic surgeon. He served in Afghanistan at the 325th Combat Field Hospital in 2004-2005.

Dr. Blackmon is on staff at The Center for Orthopedic Reconstruction and Excellence (CORE). CORE is Bristow Medical Center’s newest affiliated campus, located in Jenks, He also has hospital privileges at Hillcrest and Southcrest Medical Center.

Membership in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society and the Tulsa County Medical Society allow continuing education for Dr. Blackmon to remain at the top in his field:

Dr. Blackmon moved to Tulsa for its medical and hometown community, excellent schools, and music opportunities for his children. He is an active, active member of the community and in his down time enjoys sports, music, boating, fishing, and photography.
