  • SI joint - body implication after injury

As you have discovered, there is very little if any loss of function when the SI joint is fused. This is because there is very little mobility in the joint to begin with and at times it is fused surgically because of disabling pain. Looking at your medications it appears that you have inflammatory arthritis which is the most likely cause of the fusion. cbm Christopher B Michelsen, MD, FAOA, FAAOS, FACS Col (Ret) USA Professor (Emeritus) Orthopaedic Surgery Columbia University, College of P&S READ MORE

  • How long should I take Axogurd Nt

Before stopping any medications you should consult your doctor. I would also recommend a consultation with an orthopaedic specialist to rule out either a problem with your wife's shoulder or possible her neck, Either one could be causing her neck pain but at her young age I would consider the shoulder first. cbm Christopher B Michelsen, MD, FAOA, FAAOS, FACS Col (Ret) USA Professor (Emeritus) Orthopaedic Surgery Columbia University, College of P&S READ MORE

  • Is scoliosis surgery risky?

Scoliosis surgery is major surgery and there can occasionally be major complications. The vast majority of patients who undergo scoliosis surgery do extremely well and have few if any complications. Letting scoliosis progress over the years can result in major cardiac and respiratory problems so in my opinion it is better to have the surgery and correct and stop the curve progression. cbm Christopher B Michelsen, MD, FAOA, FAAOS, FACS Col (Ret) USA Professor (Emeritus) Orthopaedic Surgery Columbia University, College of P&S READ MORE

Before starting any rehabilitation of the muscle it must heal. Moist heat (hot tub, whirlpool) and gentle stretching along with the heat will help dissolve the hematoma caused by the injury and possibly speed the recovery. cbm Christopher B Michelsen, MD, FAOA, FAAOS, FACS Col (Ret) USA Professor (Emeritus) Orthopaedic Surgery Columbia University, College of P&S READ MORE

  • What type of treatment is best for shoulder blade pain?

Obviously the first thing is to determine the cause of the pain which can be bursitis, muscle strain, shoulder pathology or other more serious causes. • What is the best treatment for hip dislocation?

It is very unusual for a person with a hip dislocation not to be hospitalized and the hip reduced either closed with anesthesia or open with surgery. If you are a young child closed reduction and casting can be attempted but after a few months surgery is required. In adults, hip dislocation is often accompanied with an acetabular fracture again which often needs to be surgically treated.
