Mathias A. Masem, MD, received his medical degree in 1975 from the University of Minnesota, followed by and internship and residency at San Francisco University. He then went on to complete a hand surgery fellowship program with Jack Tupper, M.D. in Oakland, California. Since becoming a surgeon, Dr. Masem has become a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Medical Association, Alameda-Contra Costa Medical Association and the California Orthopaedic Association. Not only does he perform hand surgeries at Mathias Masem, MD, Bay Area Hand Surgery Associates, but Masem works as an assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco.
