Get to know Anesthesiologist Dr. Viji V. Thomas, who serves patients in Clinton Township, Michigan.

An established anesthesiologist with a demonstrated history of working in the medical practice industry, Dr. Thomas has provided compassionate care to patients at Gilead Pain Care since 2004. He specializes in interventional pain management and treatment of chronic pain patients.

Gilead Pain Care strives to manage the patient as a whole, rather than just treating pain with pain pills.They approach every patient with compassion and treat pain utilizing a multidisciplinary approach. Their emphasis is given on a healthy way of life including proper nutrition, exercise, physical therapy, stress management, rest and relaxation.

Graduating with his medical degree from the Government Medical College in Nagpur, India, Dr. Thomas relocated to the United States, where he completed his residency in anesthesiology and fellowship in pain management at Wayne State University.

In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in anesthesiology and pain management by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology.

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery. In addition to basic measurements such as pulse, blood pressure, and temperature, they measure the patient’s respiration.

As a testament of his dedication to his field, Dr. Thomas has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award (2018), On-Time Doctor Award (2018), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2018).
