Dr. Frank Nigro graduated from Port Arthur Collegiate as Gold Medalist with highest academic standing in the Collegiate history ,dating back to 1906. He attained his Medical Doctorate at the UWO and completed Cardiology fellowship in 1996 and went on to perform an additional year of Electrophysiology / device Training under the Mentorship of the world recognized Dr. George Klein. Dr.Nigro was former director of cardiology from 2006-2011 at TBRHSC and Co-Director of Stand Alone Angioplasty Program along with Dr.Marino Labinez, OHI. Notable achievements include : 5 million dollar fundraising during his directorship as Chair of Save A Heart Campaign (2006-2011),launched Outreach Cardiac Rehabilitation Program- winner of prestigious Ted Freeman Award, Cardiac catheterization lab under his directorship between 2006-2011 was Ranked #1 twice for Quality and Safety by Fraser Institute report in Ontario , Developed Northwestern Ontario Cardiology Summit providing CME for all NWO HCP's, Stand Alone Angioplasty Program was Recognized as " Model Program" by Expert panel Committee from MOHLTC and Minister of Health,Received several teaching awards from NOSM ,highest academic standing in the National Cardiology Residents Evaluation Exam in 1996. He currently is an Associate Staff cardiologist and Associate Professor of Medicine at NOSM. His research interests include clinical trials in cardiology ,mainly in areas of Atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS,SCA Prevention and Lipid Disorders Dr.Nigro currently is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the NOSM and staff cardiologist practicing Clinical and Invasive Cardiology.
