  • Wrong heavy lifting?

This sounds awful. The pop was most likely nitrogen being released from one or multiple joints. The lump could be torn soft tissue (muscle, ligament, tendon) or it could be fluid from micro-tears or trauma to the area.   READ MORE

  • How do you relieve upper back pain between shoulder blades?

Hello, A detailed and thorough examination by a chiropractor is a great first step. We are neuromuskuloskeletal specialists, so receiving a detailed evaluation will help assess what your problem is, how long it will take to fix it, what will be done, and usually how much your treatment plan will cost. I don't like surprising my patients with financials, so a detailed plan for treatment and payment are usually discussed during the first or second visit.  Conservative, gentle stretching and exercise may also provide benefit for you. Respectfully, Dr. Joel D. Duchon READ MORE

  • I'm experiencing clicking, popping in my neck?

Hello, This is usually a sign of spinal degeneration. The clicking and popping is instability in the joints of your spine. As active as you are, I would advise a spinal assessment to assess your current level of spinal degeneration. Sincerely, Dr. Duchon READ MORE

  • Can chiropractors realign your spine?

Hello, Chiropractors are neuro (nerve) musckulo (muscle) sketetal (bone) specialists. Yes, chiropractors manipulate or adjust your spinal joints to restore motion to your spinal joints. Your nervous system (brain and spinal cord) are protected by your skeleton and your spinal joints must be properly moved to maintain joint integrity, like all joints. Spinal hygiene, like all hygiene is part of healthy living. Sincerely, Dr. Joel D. Duchon READ MORE

  • Can I pop my own neck?

Hello, Yes, you can, but it may not be worth the instability you create in your spinal joints. Chiropractors are neuromuscularskeletal specialists. I have personally attended 4 years of college earning my bachelors degree with 3 and 1/3 years of Chiropractic college totaling 7 and 1/3 years of college. We are highly trained specialists, so with this in mind, I would advised abstaining from self adjusting. It may create more harm than good. Sincerely, Dr. Joel D. Duchon READ MORE

  • When should I see a chiropractor for wrist pain?

Hello, As soon as humanly possible. I have personally experienced through my practice, the sooner my patients come in for their complaints the sooner they get better, usually. Don't wait, the body has an amazing ability to minimize pain and discomfort, but it doesn't mean it can fix the problem on its own. Sincerely, Dr. Joel D. Duchon READ MORE

  • How do you know if your body is out of alignment?

Hello, Spinal joints are like any joint in the body when it comes to alignment. If you have never received a chiropractic manipulation, i.e., adjustment, then you would probably benefit from them. Physical, chemical and emotional stressors start from birth. If your spine doesn’t have the normal 3 anatomical curves in the neck, middle back and low back, you would most benefit from adjustments. I hope this helped. Sincerely, Dr. Duchon READ MORE

  • How do I free a trapped nerve in my shoulder?

Hello, Pain is usually the best indicator of a pinched nerve, but reduced range of motion or reduced quality of life are usually good indicators a nerve is pinched. Sincerely, Dr. Joel D. Duchon READ MORE

  • How do you crack your shoulder back?

Hello, I am unsure of your specific question. Chiropractors can manipulate/adjust multiple joints; including spinal joints and shoulders to name a few. Nothing is "cracking," but when you receive an adjustment, your joints move into what is called a paraphyisiologic joint space, the space just behind a joints normal range of motion (how it moves), and this causes a cavitation or "pop" or "crack," which is a release of nitrogen gas in the joint. Sincerely, Dr. Joel D. Duchon READ MORE

  • What causes pain in your hip and down your leg?

Hello, Typically, it is a pinched nerve. It may be sciatica, but without a complete consultation, examination, X-rays and possible MRI it is hard to determine. I would consult with a chiropractor near you to determine how treatment can best help you. Sincerely, Dr. Duchon READ MORE

  • What will happen if scoliosis is not treated?

Hello, There are numerous things that can happen, not many of which are advantageous to your health or future quality of life. 1. Typically, if your curve is below 20° it is a watch and maintain prognosis with spinal adjustments and physical therapy provided and assigned by your chiropractor. You, have the most responsibility to perform daily exercises at home to minimize the advancement of your curve. 2. If your curve is between 20 to 40° you are typically advised to employ a brace with chiropractic and physical therapy, provided by your chiropractor. 3. If your curve is between 40 to 60° typically that is a surgical consultation. In short, starting with a chiropractor would be a good initial step. They should be able to help you or get you referred to the appropriate in the doctor to improve your quality of life and minimize the risk of your scoliosis negatively impacting your quality-of-life Sincerely, Dr. Duchon P: 281-557-5525 www.bayoaksphysicalmed.com READ MORE
