  • Tailors bunion

Hello it does seem like you are developing tailor’s bunion and that’s pushing your pinky toe towards 4th toe. For now try wearing wider shoes, gel pads to avoid more pressure and pain. These usually run in family. Overtime if these get worse, you will need surgical correction but you are 15 so your bones are not fused yet. You should have a podiatry consultation in the meantime if it continues to get worse. Hope this helps. READ MORE

  • My grandfather's wound is not healing. What should we do?

Was there any biopsy or culture taken from the wound to identify the organism that is causing the infection? If not then its very likely the reason why the antibiotics are ineffective. • Do store orthotics work?

Depending on your diagnosis, they might or might not serve well. For significant issues such as flat foot, high arch foot, biomechanical issues, you would need custom orthotics. For the first timers with heel pain or just to have some support, over-the-counter orthotics could suffice your need. I usually recommend semi-rigid store bought inserts such as Superfeet or Purestride. You could look them up on Amazon. Please go see your local podiatrist to understand if you have any foot issues, so you can get proper understanding. READ MORE

  • Ingrown toenail surgery now have thick ridged nails

Hello, There are usually 3 reasons why you could have developed this problem: 1. If the nail bed had been damaged during the procedure. 2. If you had suffered any injury to the nail bed during the healing, until the new nail grows back fully. 3. If you had developed nail fungus infection to the nail bed during the time of healing. There are multiple things you could try to improve the appearance of the nails, but first you need to have nail biopsy performed to determine if there is actual fungal infection. Nail bed reconstruction could be performed if there is no toe nail infection. If there is fungal infection, then you have options of topical antifungal meds, oral meds, laser treatment, total nail removal with nail bed reconstruction. I hope this was helpful. Let me know if you have anymore questions. Sincerely, Dr. Biren Shah READ MORE
