How can I stop neuropathic pain?
Dear 15 year old, First, I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this very difficult problem. In neuropathic pain, if possible, it is important to have an empathetic, well trained psychiatrist or pain specialist who can use multiple approaches. That person will do a thorough diagnostic evaluation of your pain. There are many treatments that are available, and it often helps to use several treatment approaches. These would include meditation, yoga, tai chi, chi gong, acupuncture, exercise, devices that stimulate nerves, medications and psychotherapy. If the main person=0D treating you cannot provide all these treatments, that person can refer you to someone who can for parts of your treatment. Medications can include anti-seizure medicines, like Neurontin, SSRI's and tricyclic antidepressants, anti-inflammatory agents and various pain medications. At this point, the most important part of your recovery, is finding a physician who can provide good care. Best wishes, Ernest Braasch, M.D. READ MORE
