Is botox safe for a 56 year old woman with diabetes?
Thank you for your question. Botox is generally a safe procedure. It is a minimally invasive procedure with needles being placed through your skin. As long as your diabetes is well controlled, you should be able to have this procedure safely. High sugars with diabetes increases chance of infection, however, infections are very unlikely with Botox procedure alone. Sincerely, Olga Bachilo, MD READ MORE
My daughter is 4 years old and has burnt her hand by dropping hot water. Is skin grafting recommended for her considering age?
I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's burn injury. Burns can be of different depth and the depth will dictate the need for skin grafting. For deep 2nd degree and 3rd degree burns, skin grafting is needed and will be done even for small children. More superficial burns can be treated with topical ointments to prevent infection. Sometimes deeper burns, if small in size, can also be managed with topical application of specialized biological barriers to help them heal. I hope your daughter recovers well. What is the best way to treat puffy eyes?
It is best to get an evaluation in person and to make sure there is no underlying medical condition. Allergies may contribute to puffy eyes, and a trial of antihistamine allergy medication may help. Another simple remedy to try is to apply a very thin layer of Preparation H cream to the lower lids at bedtime. It contains Phenylephrine, which is a decongestant, and may help with some mild swelling. Sincerely, Olga Bachilo, MD READ MORE
Scars from burns
Thank you for your question. I'm sorry you suffered this burn. If it's significant area, I would recommend that you visit a doctor to evaluate the depth and extent of injury. It is best to keep areas moist and covered for best healing. Use non-stick gauze and antibiotic ointment. Once the areas are healed, you may start using scar products on it such as silicone gel and sheets and also massage the scar. Hope this answers your question. Hope you heal soon.
