Dr. Adyanthaya (Dr. Roh) is a board-certified ophthalmologist who is fellowship trained in vitreo-retinal surgery. He treats patients with a wide variety of retinal disorders at Virginia Eye Consultants, including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and uveitis. Before joining our team, Dr. Adyanthaya spent time in Texas honing his ophthalmic skills at Valley Retina Institute and Gulf Coast Eye Institute. Dr. Adyanthaya earned his medical degree from MGM Medical College and Hospital in Mumbai, India, where he also studied in a transitional internship. He remained in Mumbai to complete an Ophthalmology Residency at King Edward Memorial Hospital, after which he earned his Master of Surgery at the University of Mumbai. Following this, Dr. Adyanthaya was Chief Resident of Ophthalmology at Siddharth Hospital. Continuing his training in the U.S., Dr. Adyanthaya became a Clinical Fellow in the Department of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus, Wilmer Eye Institute at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He then completed an Internal Medicine Internship at Good Samaritan Hospital, Baltimore followed by an Ophthalmology Residency at State University of New York (SUNY). Dr. Adyanthaya concluded his training in a Vitreo-Retinal Fellowship at Valley Retina Institute in Texas. Throughout his career, Dr. Adyanthaya has been involved with numerous clinical trials for treating diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, uveitis, diabetic retinopathy, and vitreomacular adhesion. His case presentations on multiple surgical videos have earned him “Editor’s Choice” by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, highlighting his advanced expertise. Dr. Adyanthaya has also authored several articles in eye care publications and presented seminars on his research and work with retinal disorders. Dr. Adyanthaya is associated with a number of professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the International Council of Ophthalmology and the Texas Medical Association.
