Get to know Psychoanalyst Dr. Julio Morales-Galarreta, who serves the population of St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Morales-Galarreta graduated with his Medical Degree from the National University of Trujillo in Peru in 1966, giving him over five decades of experience in his field. After obtaining his Medical Degree he completed his Internship with the National University of Trujillo. He then relocated to the United States, and wanting to further his training he then completed his Child Psychiatrist fellowship with the Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Morales-Galarreta is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. To stay up to date in his field, he remains a professional member of the American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Child Psychiatry, and the American Analytical Association. Dr. Morales-Galarreta currently practices as a Faculty Member and Training & Supervising Analyst in Adult and Child Psychoanalysis with the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute, and is affiliated with the SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital where he holds an expertise in Psychoanalyst, Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry. He also practices as a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics with the Saint Louis University School of Medicine. psychoanalysis is a method of modern psychotherapy that can be very useful for people who are struggling with longstanding difficulties in the ways that they think and feel about themselves, the world, and their relationships with others. To be sure, there are short-term treatments that are better suited for short-term problems such as anxiety or depression brought on by a specific stressor, loss, or trauma. But for psychological troubles that have been around in one’s life for a long time—often since childhood—a deeper treatment is needed. That’s where psychoanalysis comes in. When not working, Dr. Morales-Galarreta enjoys biking and golfing.
