    Typically, the endodontist don't want you to take pain medication especially if they haven't seen you for a consultation. The endodontist ave to test and confirm the symptoms that you were experiencing in relation to the clinical test results before arriving at a diagnosis. The pain medication may masks the pain and will not be able to reproduce the symptoms you were experiencing.     The antibiotics will only work if the source of the tooth infection was addressed. Solely antibiotics will not resolve the tooth infection.
