About

Robert Booher, DDS is a dentist currently serving his patients in Indiana. To begin his career, he attended the University of Indiana and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1975. General dentists provide a wide array of services that are vital to patients’ continued health. These services include: preventive services — helping to maintain good oral health by stopping disease before it takes hold in the mouth; restorative services — receiving timely and appropriate treatment when a problem is identified; as well as cosmetic services — performing a range of cosmetic procedures, such as teeth whitening, cosmetic bonding - even porcelain veneers. General dentists also address overall health concerns, as oral health is seen as the mirror of general health. In fact, some dental problems may reflect issues in other parts of the body and vice versa.

Get to know Dentist and Sleep Apnea Specialist Dr. Robert B. Booher, who serves patients in Avon, Indiana.

Dr. Booher is a remarkable dentist who serves as the Founder of Associates in Family Dentistry in Avon, Indiana.

Voted ‘Best Dentist in Hendricks County’ in 2003, 2004, and 2005, Associates in Family Dentistry work with patients so that they can achieve and maintain a beautiful smile and healthier gums and teeth. The staff take their time with their patients to explain their treatment options and inform them of additional preventative care. They feel this will lead to a more trusting doctor/patient relationship and, for many people, relieve the stress about seeing a dentist.

A native of Indianapolis, Dr. Booher is the son of Dr. Norman Booher and Dr. Olga Bonke Booher, longtime physician of Indianapolis. He attended Shortridge High School, after which he went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana in 1971. Years later, in 1975, he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Indiana University School of Dentistry.

He served two years of active duty as a dentist at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. After a brief associateship, he started Associates in Family Dentistry in 1980. After 17 years in the Kroger Shopping Center at the corner of Rockville Road and Girls School Road, he moved the practice to his new state-of-the-art facility in Avon in 1997, where the practice is today.

A Diplomate of both the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and the American Sleep and Breathing Academy, Dr. Booher remains a member of the American Dental Association, the Indiana Dental Association, the Indianapolis District Dental Society, the Indiana Sleep Society, the Illinois Sleep Society, the Westside Study Club, and the Chicago Dental Society.

To further his professional development, he participates in numerous continuing education courses every year, concentrating specifically on cosmetic dentistry, endodontics, TMJ migraine therapy, and dental sleep medicine. Having been involved with many advancements in dentistry through his years in practice, he now works with many sleep physicians and primary care physicians, providing their patients an effective alternative to continuous positive airway pressure and treatment of obstructive sleep apnea. Recently his daughter, Dr. Megan A. Booher, has joined the practice.

Most recently, Dr. Booher has been listed as an Adjunct Instructor in General Dentistry and Oral Medicine at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry through 2020. He has also been involved with Donated Dental Services since its inception. A retired Major from the Army Reserves Dental Corps, he is a member of the Scottish Rite.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.

Outside of the office, Dr. Booher and his wife, Shirley, reside in Zionsville with their daughter, Megan. They attend Zionsville Presbyterian Church.
