Get to know Neurologist Dr. Marc Malkoff, who serves patients in Memphis, Tennessee.

Dr. Malkoff is a practicing neurologist who attributes his success to good training, mentorship, and hard work. He works at UT Methodist Physicians Neurology in Memphis, Tennessee. It is a part of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare.

Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Malkoff earned his medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, Ohio. He completed his transitional residency at Cleveland Clinic, followed by his residency in neurology at Emory University Hospital and his fellowship in neurologic critical care at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

As for his academic title, he serves as Professor of Neurology, Vice Chair of Neurology, and Director of the Neurology Residency Program at the University of Tennessee Center for Health Science in Memphis.

The doctor is board-certified in neurology and vascular neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, which is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists. He is also certified in neurocritical care and neuroimaging by the Unified Council of Neurologic Subspecialties, and in MRI/CT and neurosonology by the American Society of Neuroimaging.

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Malkoff is a member of the American Heart Association (Fellow), the American Academy of Neurology (Fellow), the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Neurocritical Care Society, the American Society of Neuroimaging, and the Memphis Medical Society. 

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurologists are licensed medical specialists who diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. They examine a patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.

On a more personal note, Dr. Malkoff’s favorite professional publication is the journal, Stroke.
