Get to know Neurologist Dr. Reema Maindiratta, who serves patients in Babylon, New York.

Recognized as a thriving neurologist, Dr. Maindiratta embarked on the road to entrepreneurship in 1998 when she established her private practice – Reema Maindiratta, MD, P.C. – in Babylon, New York. Highly regarded for her ability to diagnose and provide relief and cure, she specializes in the complex pathways of the neural system, treating various disorders, diseases, and injuries.

With over two decades of experience in her field, she considers being a physician to be a privilege, as it offers the opportunity to medically and emotionally care for patients and their families. Her areas of expertise include neuromuscular disorders, peripheral neuropathy, and pain management.

A 1991 graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Dr. Maindiratta continued her journey with an internship at New York University Medical Centre/Veterans Affairs. She then went on to perform her residency in neurology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, serving as chief resident from 1995 until 1996. Wanting to further her training, she completed her fellowship in neuromuscular disorders and EMG at Montefiore Medical Center in 1997.

An expert in the sophisticated pathways of the neurological system, the doctor is board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists. 

Among her professional affiliations, she is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Neurological Association, the American Pain Association, the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the American Academy of Neurology, and the American Academy of Hospice & Palliative Medicine. 

Throughout her line of work, Dr. Maindiratta has had the opportunity to present grand rounds and round table conferences on multiple topics, including pain management, movement disorders, headaches, and dementia. She has also had the pleasure of working with medical students, interns, and residents in the hospital and office setting. 

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurologists are licensed medical specialists who diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. They examine a patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.

Among her philanthropic initiatives, Dr. Maindiratta is a supporter of child abuse education, awareness, and recognition. She supported education for underprivileged children in India, made contributions to medical care for the underprivileged and third world countries, as well as made contributions for research on cancer, lupus, and multiple sclerosis.

Evidencing her dedication and proficiency in her profession, she was the recipient of several awards, including Master Physician of the American Institute of Geriatrics (2012), America’s Top Physician (2009-2012), and Grand Physician of Geriatrics (2012). She was also named Scholar in Pediatrics by the University of Connecticut School of Medicine (1991) and was on the Dean’s Honors List at New York University (1985-1987).

In making her path easier to follow, Dr. Maindiratta attributes her success to encouraging mentors and colleagues together with supportive family and friends. She considers success to be the unexpected sweet fruit that followed.

Outside of practicing medicine, she enjoys reading, writing poetry, traveling, and cooking. Equipped with exceptional communication and public speaking skills, enhanced by her talent for languages, she speaks English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu fluently.
